Titanium Backup has been updated to version 7.2.0, adding support for Android M, which is positioned as one of the first applications to support the latest version of the operating system, now in developer preview.

Google takes several years devising new models of smart contact lenses that allow us to use augmented reality without glasses, but the new patent extends beyond with lenses with iris scanner.

In the past Google agreed with Novartis to create a patent quite futuristic of camera lenses; instead the patent granted to Google, it goes in another direction, to allow authenticate with your eyes. As you know, fingerprints are not the only method of biometrics, to identify ourselves with our body; iris scanner can be more accurate and safe (although there are other interesting developments using our brain waves that have more potential).

However, authenticated by the iris can become complicated and depends on the quality of the cameras; if you really want to become a popular method you need a way we can use our iris almost without us noticing. This is where this patent comes on contact lenses with light sensors on its surface that capture the light reflected in the iris; the image obtained is compared with the stored on the computer system where we want to authenticate, and if it fits perfectly then we gain access.

The patent has few specifics on how these lenses would work, and that's where the challenge is, because they not only have to get the image of our iris but also transmit wirelessly to the system. One can imagine that this patent has been applied for the safe side for future developments, although as we know not all patents become products.

HTC expects a setback in sales after the commercial failure of the HTC One M9

The HTC One M9 is not selling as well as the Taiwanese firm expected, and that will have consequencies: downward revision of the next fiscal quarter. HTC has surprised this weekend announcing a downward revision of economic results they expect to harvest in the second quarter of the year that will close on June 30. 

So low are the sales of its new top-end terminal that production has been cut by 30% and the company begins to seek new solutions to remain as a major player in a business that, for now, is smiling at the competition.

HTC expects an operating loss between 257 and 291 million dollars for the second quarter, and this after closing out four consecutive quarters with positive numbers. While before they launched the HTC One M9 they expected total revenues of 1480-1560 million, the company now has fallen to 1060-1160 million, with a significant reduction in the production of all its new flagship models.

The top leaders of HTC already have marked a short-term set of goals to revitalize the company numbers. To do this they will work on strengthening its smartphone segment to remain competitive. 

This I could happen giving more personality and differentiation to their future devices, and avoid to live the same as with the HTC One M9, in view of everyone, as a continuity terminal over its predecessor. Another objective is to cut operating costs to become more efficient, which could result in staff reductions and cuts in R&D in branches that do not interest too. And maybe the third objective is the most important: getting into a new business.

Square Enix keep focused on mobile platforms (as they did with Lara Croft). While half the world is aware of the news of their next great work, Final Fantasy XV, the Japanese company continues releasing new games for Android.

Now it is the turn of one of the most iconic and beloved videogames of the Japanese firm, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, a title that we all loved at the moment.

Unlike other Final Fantasy, it differs from the rest in its combat system. No turn-based combat, but the battlefield is divided into a board with grids in which we move our units to destroy the enemy, all in a very strategic way that will make the fighting somewhat more complex and longer than usual.

But if the combat system is good (or at least different from what we usually see in the saga of Square Enix), more so is its history. An adult plot, full of betrayals, swords and magic, allies who really are not and enemies that come from us; something that certainly is difficult to see in a game of Square Enix these days.

In short, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lion is a set of ten levels. But its version for Android has certain shortcomings and disadvantages that litter the game. First, the price. We talk about a game of Play Station -the first one- which was later released on PlayStation Portable (PSP). The version of Google Play is just a port of the PSP, so a price of 13.99 euros for it seems somewhat exaggerated. It is true that this is a very long and fun game, and also Square Enix has never been known to put their Android titles at affordable prices, but even so, we consider it expensive.

On the other hand, a game of this magnitude, with so many hours of development, it is unacceptable not likely to save in the cloud. If you take 60 hours of game and all circumstances of life, you change phone or erase data you will have to start all over again from the beginning.

Finally, we speak the language. This Final Fantasy has never been translated from English, but we are in 2015 and if a company wants to sell to such a market like this, should rethink this. Arguably we have a complex title, and although you need not be native English-speaking to understand, many users will be missing one of the best arguments in a game because of the language.
