About smart rings companies are not revealing many details lately, but all efforts are on wearables. Anyway, there are already some smart rings being developed, from very simple proposals to open doors via NFC, to a device capable of displaying notifications, reaching Nod, which can control other devices from gestures. The one today is called Ōura, and wish to register our activities.
This is possibly the easiest functionality to see inside a small device, since among all phones, personal quantifiers, or watches, have helped develop the motion sensors in limited space, but then to put it in a ring, always it should be viewed as an interesting development.
Ōura provides a device capable of recording physical activities, also monitor how is our dream, without using a bracelet, which is the most common place we've found so far. Depending on the user, you may find it more comfortable to sleep with a ring than with other wearable.
While some try to fix it, as Intel, the designs are usually quite "technology", even sports, so in Ōura decided to design something that went unnoticed in this direction, creating a ring with clean lines. The forms are responsible for the Harri Koskinen and Kari Kivelä Finnish industrial designers.
The chassis is constructed in ring ceramic - from zirconium - either closed to be water resistant, and as hard as steel. Inside are sensors to record movements, heart rate sensor, and space for a battery that has autonomy for three days, and can be charged in half an hour. Display box acts as a charger.
Ōura will be on sale in October - reserves since July - at a price of $250 in the United States. There will be a fairly broad range of sizes and two colors to choose: black glossy or matte white.
