Boom Beach is One Year Old!

Boom Beach is the last game released by Supercell, the Finnish company widely known by Clash of Clans and Hay Day.

After the success of those two titles, Supercell presented Boom Beach, an interesting evolution of Clash of Clans. Both games share a basic principles, but the differences are important.

In Boom Beach, you also have a base that you need to defend from the other players, who will try to raid your island to steal your resources. Each player has his home base in a tropical island, and you will be able to explore a few island in the archipelago that surrounds you.

When you start the game, there is an enemy in the archipelago, who had several islands under his control. You can free their towns from Hammerman's rule, and thus, the citizens of those islands will send you gold, wood and stone.

With these resources you can upgrade your Head Quarter, unlocking new buildings for your base. You need to strategically place the sniper towers, machine guns, mortars, mines and cannons to stop the invading forces, but at the same time, you will try to overcome the defenses of the other players.

With one Gunboat and some a Landing Crafts, you will choose some troops, train them, and navigate to other islands to attack them. If you win, that island will be under your control and you will get resources.

In a similar way than Clash of Clans, there are different troops available, with different characteristics. You can upgrade them spending gold and recruiting as much troops as your Landing Crafts admit.

The main difference between both games is the battles. In Clash of Clans there isn't much strategy involved, the troop attack their favorite targets but once released on the battlefield, there isn't much that you can do to direct them.

In Boom Beach you have flares that you can sent to direct your troops to the selected targets. This gives you a much better control about the flow of the battle. The Gunboat can also fire artillery and Medkits, and the way you use them can change the outcome of a battle.

The strategy is a key factor in Boom Beach, and every battle is a challenge.

As the other games from Supercell, Boom Beach is free but includes in-app purchases. You can buy diamonds, which are used to speed up the waiting times. However, every week you will obtain a reasonable amount of them, so buying them is really an optional choice.

Boom Beach is a great game, and if you enjoy Clash of Clans, you should definitely give it a try. You can get it from Google Play and the App Store.

Atari Fit, new fitness app that uses gamification with retro games

Atari, company known for its dedication to the world of video games, has launched a new fitness app for iPhone and Android. Its name is Atari Fit and reward us if we use games while playing sports.

The immense possibilities for development that offers Android and creativity of the designers of applications, have made the Google mobile operating system, among other things, has become a good candidate for sports-related applications, whether general or specialized, and today many people use their smartphones to stay physically fit. Some examples of applications that can contribute to this are the famous Runtastic, Google Fit, which increasingly has more activities or some more specific as Subaru Skiing for lovers of this sport.

How Atari Fit works? This app has over 100 exercises to target different sports. We just have to use it at the same time we train and so we will earn points. These experience points can be used to unlock new fitness routines. The real potential of this app is that as we use it, we will win coins that can be used to unlock classic games of the company. Among them, we can find such legendary titles as Pong, Super Breakout or Centipede.

Surely, if we mention Atari, will sound to you all as a mythical company in relation to the field of video games, and therefore a new release would be expected somewhat aswell specialized in this field, and so, although only partly. Atari proposes to unite gamification and retro games with your app for smartphones, although the games are secondary, being sports the first.

If you wonder how the dynamics of gamification are introduced and what has to see Atari Fit with games, the answer is that we get points for doing exercises and they can unlock retro Atari games, but then there's another component of gamification, and is there a ranking of the best users and you can compete to be in it. Besides motivate us to exercise in exchange for classic games, the app is free, so the incentive to try is even bigger. Maybe its multiplayer mode is the most interesting feature, allowing us to join a team to train or compete in groups. We may also motivate other members or view the statistics of other groups and see how you can reach them overcome.

Xiaomi Mi TV3 confirmed for March 24

One of the companies that are more in vogue in recent months, China's Xiaomi, has announced the launch of the third generation of its TV system with Android, after two very successful generations in the Chinese market, especially Xiaomi Mi TV2, with good hardware, 4K, Android and above all, a spectacular price, less than 500 euros. After a first teaser released yesterday, Xiaomi returns to the subject revealing new details about the new product that will be presented shortly.

It seems that this has encouraged the Chinese firm to continue with its Mi TV family and the next day March 24, 2015 will present its Xiaomi Mi TV3, third generation that seems to continue to increase its size if the first generation was 47 inches, 49 inches below, the latter can continue to grow until 55 inches claiming many users. Whenever asked televisions larger sizes above 4K resolutions, but the 55 inch I personally begin to seem somewhat exaggerated.

The announcement, was carried through the largest social network in China, Weibo, a small survey that just emphasize this, the size of the screen, wondering if users prefer larger or smaller screen than the Xiaomi Mi TV2, seeing rumors that exceed 55 inches, it seems that users want more. Certainly the miniaturization of frames in recent years can make this 55-inch television remains less exaggerated in smaller size than a couple of years ago.

MixRadio available for Android and iOS

The name of Nokia MixRadio or just MixRadio perhaps tell you something if you were users of Windows Phone at some point. Otherwise, MixRadio is a streaming music service originally developed by Nokia and later became part of Microsoft. At least till now, when MixRadio has been established as an independent company recently, having broken its ties with Microsoft and going to maintain a close relationship with Line. Explanations aside, the story in question that interests us is another.

Yesterday, several media related to the world of mobile technology as in the case of HD Blog Italia said MixRadio has confirmed that the appearance of the official app for Android and iOS were made. There is currently no definitive versions in either of these two mobile operating systems, but the app is in both cases in a beta phase limited to a handful of lucky access. If you want to be part of this beta, we recommend you to do it sooner than possible by following the instructions to sign up on the official website.

From what has been seen so far, the arrival of streaming music service to Android and iOS that binds to other classics like Spotify or alternatively Google Play Music, is at first glance an aesthetic improvement over the Windows Phone app. Functionally, it will maintain its proposal to be a service to learn from our musical tastes, allowing us to reproduce other playlists, creating our own, receive suggestions based on what we like or download music to listen offline later. Regarding the business model, it seems that there will remain free for normal user accounts and accounts with premium features associated with some monthly fee. To conclude we can say that despite the separation of Microsoft, it's planning to take this modernized version of the application to Windows Phone.

Google releases a collection of watch faces: Street Art

Android Wear has been around for a while and finally Google has released the first collection of watch faces. The whole collection is named Street Art, and it brings a great piece of art to your watch.

There are a lot of different paintings included, all of them featuring some piece of street art from Google Art Project. There are some well-known names behind those images, and you can get the whole collection for free from the Play Store.

The artists responsible for the beautiful watch faces are Aitch, Andre Fernandes Trindade, Cheko, DRAW, Drawing Jesus, Erik Otto, Gemeniano Cruz, God Mess, Hugo Lucas, Katch, L Is Not An Artist aka Luísa Cortesão, Mariana Dias Coutinho, Mercedes deBellard, Mercedes deBellard & Cheko, Nark, Nicolae Negura, Paulo Arraiano, Pedro Batista, Phibs, Reach, Samina, Slap, Sublinismo & Cheko, Tamara Alves & José Carvalho, The Empty Belly, Tinta Crua, and Will Barras.

When you install the app, you will have a few customization options. You can choose the style of the hour displayed by choosing among three options: minimal, analog or digital.

The minimal option uses a couple of small circles moving along a circle to show the time, while the analog face is a conventional round watch face. The numbers and hands and displayed over the picture and it's obviously more suited for round devices.  Finally, the digital face shows the time at the bottom, so you can see almost the full painting.

In addition, you can also decide if you want to see the date or not.

And that's all. There isn't any more options. The painting will change every few minutes to the next one, so you can't choose one and keep it on your screen. It's quite a drawback, and probably in some update Google will add some more options.

However, if you like this street art style, it's really worth a try. The paintings are really great to look at, so you can download the app and check if you find some that you really like.

You will find the Street Art app at the Play Store.

Writeily Pro, a simple but effective Notes app

Write and point, there are times when we do not need a thousand features and editing options, we simply write down or write long texts without distractions. That's why apps like iA Writer or JotterPad are so successful.

Obviously there are not enough applications to be writing but at the same time also being nice and friendly aesthetically. This time we are talking about Writeily Pro, an application that comes from Writeily, the original version.

Writeily Pro is essentially an application of notes, a simple text editor, direct and although its name includes the word Pro it is totally free and no purchase in app. In it we can create different folders in which to save notes, so you have everything more organized and divide by subject.

Writeily Pro is free text editor that supports Markdown. In addition, you can import and edit other text files you have stored on your smartphone and save what you are doing in Memory. Something that many will give value: in Writeily Pro you can write in plain text, but also supports Markdown, so you can quickly format your text.

Otherwise, Writeily Pro has an interface that adopts Material Design elements such as spot colors, side navigation menu or button floating action to create new notes and folders. Among the application settings have options to change the font, font size, change the subject between light and dark and even block access to the app using code.

Writeily Pro is totally free from Google Play, contains no advertising or in-app purchases, but if you want to support the developer there is a donation version. A good alternative to other of its kind, but what we miss most is some sort of sync with the cloud.

Dungeon Hunter 5 is now hitting free-to-play on Android

Gameloft, from its Montreal studio, returns with another of its most famous sagas. Dungeon Hunter 5, since it became the religion of free-to-play, again shows what it does best: deliver slashes in a brilliant technical package.

Valenthia, the Kingdom in which Dungeon Hunter 5 is happening, is recovering from the events that occurred in the previous installment. Like those lint that stay after sweeping corners, was a matter of bounty hunters take to finish the enemies that were, until something worse hit them.

What comes next is a mantra that all fans of the series will recognize and even appreciate that has not changed too much. You have five kingdoms to go fighting, mainly melee, against all kinds of bugs. Collect treasures, cleverly combines the weapons, spells and armor of various elements and increases the power of your attacks to continue fighting even bigger bugs.

Multiplayer has suffered severe facelift. Besides the classical cooperative mode, has added a new mode that follows the trail of other games like Clash of Clans. Here you have a den with a treasure protected by the administration and placement of enemies while you can also visit your friends and take everything that is not bolted to the floor.

Saving this latest addition, you will have legions of followers, it can be said that Dungeon Hunter 5 is a little bit of everything and a bit nicer, which although not necessarily bad, not too good.

Strikers 1945 III, Second World War shooter

The genre of Shooter never gets old, and less those inspired by the Second World War. Strikers 1945 III offers a dynamic air combat game where you remember your time enjoying the arcade games.

Mobile devices have emerged as an alternative to return to bring old genres that no longer have much place in the current consoles and PCs. One of these genres are shoot them up, or better known as Shooter, taking us soar both in fantastic military environments and having to shoot anything that moves.

Strikers 1945 III is something more earthy with a degree in military court near iron machines we've seen in the Second World War. Thus Strikers 1945 III offers an adrenaline adventure that accepts single player mode and even multiplayer, where we will have up to eight levels governed by an enemy to the last step.

For this, and according to one of the four difficulty levels available, we will receive materials as gold and gems as we go passing the phases that we will use to enhance the autonomy of our ship in areas such as the main special attack, and defense. Likewise also have the ability to unlock new planes with all these resources we get, each more powerful.

We are also able to choose a fellow sufferer to join us in campaign mode for an user, a plane that will be controlled by the CPU, and virtually mimics your movements. During the fighting we can make use of pumps or coat to try to free ourselves from the big bosses or out of a particular hurry. Strikers 1945 III is a title of pure action and focused more on the earthly story that will appeal to lovers of this genre and for those seeking adrenaline within a short period of time.

Among the above, we also find slight changes in design, making it more comfortable and structured for the user.

Dark Echo, an amazing horror game

Dark Echo is a horror game that will trap you in a world of darkness. You have to to escape, but the darkness covers everything, so you can only rely on sounds to move forward.

You must use visual echo waves to get an idea of your environments, as the different sounds you create will bounce off obstacles and thus reveal the shape of the objects around you. However, the sounds will also attract a dangerous evil that will try to devour the sound waves along with your soul.

The idea of the game is rather simple. With the different kind of sounds that you can create, you will be able to move around using the echo waves as a radar, identifying the obstacles that surrounds you. There are different kinds of sounds, and each one has some advantages and some deathly disadvantages.

In the first levels, you are going to learn how to move around and how to create the different sounds and the effect they get on your visual radar. For example, a strong step will create a huge waves that will reveal a lot of space around you, while very soft steps generate almost neither sound nor waves.

When you advance some levels, the devil will try to get you. Then you will have to deal with the fact that loud noises attract that evil creature, and you will have to decide about the best way to advance. In some cases could be better to move quietly, but then you will have no idea about your surroundings and you might end... well, death.

To make everything a little more difficult, at some point you will find water in your path. That water will slow you down and will create some loud sounds, making difficult to walk unnoticed.

So, along the 80 levels that the game offers, you will be faced with different tricks and obstacles, following an increasing difficulty curve perfectly balanced. You will need to be alert, sometimes rushing forward to barely escape the evil coming for you or another times you will try to walk without making the slightest noise, completely blind to the world around you.

Dark Echo is an amazing game, with a simple design and a lot of great imagination. It's available for $1.99 for Android and iOS respectively. To get the best experience, be sure to use a good headphones and let the darkness and the sound completely surround you.

Will you be able to escape alive?

Five Nights at Freddy's 3, the horror is back

Five Nights at Freddy's 3 is a new sequel of the game created by Scott Cawthon, the developer that in the past 2014 was able to put the first two installments of Five Nights at Freddy's in the market. As in the first two parts, our character is a night guard at Freddy's. The game runs for a total of five nights, where every night is a level.

As a guard of a quiet pizzeria dedicated to celebrate children's parties. But the pizzeria is not a simple pizzeria but has some animated puppets. These puppets or animatronics come alive at night and you will be trying to survive that animatronics of stuffed animals and puppets, in an indie playable exercise of terror that has got a viral series on the network.

The particularity of this game is that we have no freedom of movement. The animatronics try to reach the checkpoint where we work to destroy us, but fortunately, we have enough resources to survive overnight.

The booth has a camera system that will allow us to have a visual control of everything that happens in this place, and from the same may use the lights and closing the doors to deter animatronics attacks to the checkpoint.

The use of our resources, consume battery power, and if we run this, we will be exposed to the animatronics, so we have to plan our moves carefully. Every night you stay will be more dangerous, being more difficult to predict where the animatronics will attack.

The game is available at the price of 3.33 euros in Google Play, and is compatible with phones that have Android 2.3 and up.

Zombie Highway 2 available on Android

Zombies are leftover characters today, and Zombie Highway 2 is one of the last titles we've seen in the games scene.

Zombie Highway 2 is a sequel of an acclaimed game developed for smartphones and tablets with Android and iOS where our greatest and almost only goal was to kill all these undead while we survived the apocalypse through improved car loaded with weapons. What gives this Android game does not seem to be an experience that differs too much with the prequel that has already had its reputation, and we still have as objective to eliminate all the zombies that cross our path.

Even if you succeed to see some changes that make the gameplay a new and exciting element, as is the addition of Nitro will allow us to travel to faster speed to crush these threats at full speed. Also we see new content has been added to tap, as well as what we already knew of the series, we see a total of 6 new remodeled cars, 17 new weapons redesigned that can level up, including 4 super weapons of mass destruction.

We will also see that the challenge increases with not just 4 zombies completely new from the total of 10 redesigned, plus more than 50 challenges that we meet as additional objectives. As a final detail, we will meet daily challenges that we can complete to receive additional rewards, not counting a few levels are randomly generated for each as a unique experience.

As for the graphic quality of this new release on Android, it can be seen that it is a more than satisfactory not only for the implemented models, but the lighting in the game. All this combined will give us more than satisfactory experience to hunt zombies at high speed, although it would need a minimally midrange processor to run it smoothly.
